Mandate
YorkSpace is developed for the preservation and dissemination of open access scholarship produced by York faculty, students, and staff, as well as York affiliated community members. It supports the York University Senate Policy on Open Access.
Benefits of YorkSpace
- Increased visibility: YorkSpace is indexed by major search engines, such as Google and Google Scholar, which increase the discoverability of your work.
- Stable hosting and reliable links: YorkSpace assigns permanent URLs known as Handles to each item. These unique links will never change and will provide a stable location for your work.
- Support for various digital objects: YorkSpace accepts multiple file formats such as text, audio, video, and more. Please review our Accepted File Types section of the YorkSpace Procedures webpage for more information on best practices.
- Support for open access compliance required by publishers or funding agencies.
- Non-Exclusive Distribution Licence: York University Libraries requires authors to agree to the YorkSpace Non-Exclusive Distribution Licence prior to submitting work on YorkSpace. This agreement does not require copyright transfer. Authors can deposit and publish their work elsewhere.
