Heavily used sets include:

  • Toronto region

–Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources sets for 1954, 1971and 1978(at an approximate scale of 1:10,000) and 1982(at an approximate scale of 1:30,000).

Location: two vertical filing cabinets by the slide table (right hand side of the Map Library)

– The municipality of Metropolitan Toronto and enviros: 1974 aerial photographs (at a scale of 1:4,000)

  • Southern Ontario

–Ontario Dept. of Lands and Forests set at scale of

approximately 1:15,000

Location: G/3521/A4/15/1954-

  • Metro Toronto

–Municipality of Metropolitan Toronto Land Information Services sets for 1980 and for alternate years from 1983 to 1998 at a scale of 1:5,000.

Location: G/3524/T61/A4

  • GTA

–Triathlon Mapping Corporation coloured digital orthophotos of the Greater Toronto and Golden Horseshoe areas flown in 1995. Map accuracy 1:20,000.

–Triathlon Mapping Corporation coloured digital orthophotos of Toronto and Region flown in 1999. Map accuracy 1:20,000.

–J.D. Barnes (FirstBase Solutions) digital orthophotos of Southern Ontario (Durham, Halton, Hamilton, Lambton, Niagara, Peel, Sarnia, Simcoe, Toronto, York) flown in April 2002. The resolution of these photos is 0.5 meter.

HOW TO FIND AERIAL PHOTOS:

To locate a paper air photo, retrieve the correct index of the year for which you are looking. The indexes are located in the front of the first drawer for each year. To locate a digital orthophoto, please ask for assistance at the Map Library Service Desk.
