During the last few days of August, the Bronfman Library staff have been hard at work putting together a fun, welcome back display for all new and returning York University students. Our display highlights a wide variety of books and resources that can help you build your academic and career skills to prepare for the various group projects, case analyses, exams, and networking events you'll be partaking in this year.

In our display, you'll find practical books that showcase how you can make impressive presentations, craft the perfect resume, or write A+ business reports. Some of the books in our display include:

  • Business Writing Today: A Practical Guide by Natalie Canavor
    • Business writing is a bit like a fine art - you need to be concise and persuasive all at the same time! Read this book to learn how to get your message across in a clear, effective manner.
  • Talk like TED: The 9 Public Speaking Secrets of the World's Top Minds by Carmine Gallo
    • Being a successful communicator is an essential tool for business students. This book covers practical tactics you can use to deliver presentations that leave lasting impressions on your audience - perfect for both class assignments and business case competitions!
  • Team Writing: A Guide to Working in Groups by Joanna Wolfe
    • Group work is a major element of York's business degree programs. By reading this book you'll have a better understanding of how to help your group members work together to create excellent reports for your professors.

Check out the complete list of books in this display or stop by the Bronfman Library to see all of the books in person! We have a mini-display by the Bloomberg terminals, and a more complete display in our fireplace lounge.

We’ve also collected a number a pamphlets about different student support services on campus such as the Writing Centrethe ESL Centre, and the Learning Skills' workshops.
