Access to Library collections during the suspension of on-campus activities

Everyone at York University Libraries is working as quickly as possible to adapt to the suspension of in-person teaching and other academic activities on our physical campuses. Within the context of the recent declaration that Ontario is in a state of emergency, we remain committed to helping students, faculty and instructors in every way we can.

With York University Libraries’ physical locations closed until further notice, access to print and other on-site resources is suspended. If you have planned for print materials to be used in current assignments or final exams, we are here to assist you to find potential alternative digitized resources or to explore other options.

Library staff may be able to replace print content with a digital version. If there is a print book that students need for your course, please email the Content & Analysis Department (yul_cda@yorku.ca). A member of our team will quickly attempt to acquire an electronic version and will follow up with you as soon as possible.

Library staff can assist in finding alternative resources. If there is no electronic version available, library staff may be able to help you find alternative content, and the Libraries’ website provides access to a large collection of online journals and ebooks that can help support online learning. Many content providers have also recently increased access to a variety of materials to ensure broader access to licensed content off campus. A liaison librarian can also help you find openly licensed teaching materials like Open Educational Resources (OER).

We ask for your patience and understanding as we work together to ensure our students successfully complete this academic term, and that research and scholarship continue to the fullest extent possible.
