Laptops and Projectors are available for use in the Bronfman Business Library only
Laptops
- There are three laptops which may be borrowed on a first come, first served basis, for use in the Bronfman Business Library only. Students who are library users in good standing (no outstanding fines over $25.00) may borrow a laptop for up to 3 hours.
- Laptops are available from the time the library opens until 30 minutes before the Circulation Desk closes and may be signed out at the circulation desk upon presentation of a valid YU Card. The first time you sign out a laptop you will be asked to read a registration and fiscal liability form, and to respect the accompanying Library and University policies and regulations. Upon subsequent visits the system will recognize you and you will not be required to read the form. You must return the laptop on time or accrue the Reserve fine rate of $3.00 per hour or any part thereof.Laptops may be borrowed for up to three hours.
- You are responsible for the safe return of the laptop. For your own security, please do not under any circumstances leave a laptop unattended. You are responsible for the full replacement cost of the laptop checked out to you.
- No personal software or programs may be loaded onto the laptops.
- The laptops will print to the network printer in the library. The specific steps involved in printing a document will vary depending on what program you are using. All print jobs will automatically be sent to the network printer located in the library at which you borrowed your laptop. Printing costs 10 cents per page for B&W or 25 cents per page for colour printing. Your YUCard is required to print. You may add value to the card either in the library or online.
- Bring a USB to save your files or database search results. Saving files on anything but the USB and installing software on the laptop are prohibited. All files saved to the laptop will be lost upon rebooting the computer. The library is not responsible for any lost files.
- You are expected to be self-directed in your use of the laptops. It is assumed that you will be familiar with the Windows platform and with the MS Office suite. Hardware problems should be directed to the Circulation Desk staff who will contact Library Computing Services. Help with the use of online library databases and resources is available at the Reference desk in the library.
- You may use your own laptop to sign on to the York wireless network and access the Internet or plug into a connector in the Library. If you wish to print from your laptop you will need to install the York Remote Printing client. Passport York and an AcadLab account are required to access the quota printing service. Print jobs that are not released within 90 minutes are automatically purged.
